Have you heard of Prosper?

Prosper is the People to People (p2p) lending site funded by eBay founder, Pierre Omidyar.  Prosper works sort of like eBay in reverse.  Borrowers post loan requests and lenders bid on a piece of the loan with an interest rate they are willing to accept.

People who want to lend, set the minimum interest rate they are willing to earn and bid in increments of $50 to $25,000 on loan listings they select. People who lend can easily diversify using "standing orders", which automatically make many small loans to different borrowers.

Let's look at both lending and borrowing:

Now lending can be risky. If you had $1,000 to lend you wouldn't want to lend it to one person. If that person defaulted you would lose everything. But with Prosper you can take a small piece (as little as $50) of a loan, so your $1000 can be spread over twenty different loans.

Borrowing on Prosper offers several advantages over traditional bank loans and credit cards.  First of all lenders are bidding on your loan. If you post a good loan with an attractive interest rate, bidders can bid the rate down so you get the lowest interest rate --often lower than a credit card company would give you given your present credit score. Prosper loans are simple interest, the interest payment is not front loaded like it is on a second mortgage.  Also Prosper does not require any collateral.

Prosper currently has over 370,000 members and over $76 million in loans outstanding.

You can join as an individual or you can join a group.  My group is called eBay Sellers Helping Others. If you want to join my group, first use this link to sign up and get your $25 sign-up bonus.  Then go to my group page eBay Sellers Helping Others.

Borrowers please note:  I am only accepting borrowers with a credit grade of AA through C.  If you have a lower credit grade, there are many other groups specializing in credit challenged borrowers who can help you. So please join to get your sign-up bonus and then search the groups page for groups that specialize in those of you who have experienced credit problems. It's not that I don't want to help you, it is just that I have found that other groups who specialize in this can do a better job of helping you get your loans funded.
