eBay puts listing fees on sale again – 50% off on March 16th.

For the third time this month, eBay has announced a one-day, 50% Off, listing fee sale. On March 16th 2010, sellers who list Auction-style item(s), and have a 12 month Detailed Seller Rating of 4.5 or higher on all criteria, will receive 50% off the standard Insertion Fee per item listed. New sellers who don’t yet have DSR ratings are also eligible. DSR rating criteria for this promotion will be based on the previous 12 months. To see your DSR ratings, go to your Seller Dashboard within My eBay. For more information on DSRs, visit the eBay Seller Information Center.
During the Promotional Period, Insertion Fees for Auction-style listings will be 50% off on the U.S. site www.eBay.com, www.eBayMotors.com (Parts & Accessories only) and eBay Canada www.eBay.ca. Listings created prior to March 16, 2010 which are scheduled to start during the Promotional Period will be eligible to receive the Promotional Rate.
When listing items using the Sell Your Item form, the promotional rate will apply after you have exhausted your 5 free listings.
If you list with any tool (Vendio, Auctiva, etc.) other than the latest version of the Sell Your Item form (SYI 3.0) the Promotional Rate will not be shown during the listing process. Instead the discount will be reflected in the “View Account Status” section in My eBay, as well as in your next invoice.

Hi Susan – You are correct about the 99-cent free listing. It is primarily best for people cleaning out their attic –but some professional sellers do use it. If you are selling something that is popular –that always gets bids then it can work well. Yes you will get stuck once in a while, but over time it does work out. personally I would use it for consignment sales where I don’t have the product cost risk.
…and happy St. Patrick’s day to you too. We are about 3/4 Irish.

Susan Weinberg again from Rio Rancho, NM not ABQ anymore.
I read at the end of the month on eBay that they are going to give free listings to any listings that start at 99 cents. With the kind of sewing I’m doing now, I just can’t take advantage of the free listing for all the work I put into my sewing. I’m not going to be “insane” like Von Lancelot (What a dopey name! German [Von - meaning "of"] and English [Lancelot - mythical person] He doesn’t even know the English language that well!) is and list them like he does: at one penny. After all, all his labor is done in Chinese factories where his workers makes 99 cents/hr (you get my drift) and he sell about 15 dresses every day anywhere from 30 to 60 dollars where if it were made here, it would fetch at least $200. No wonder he does so well. He undercuts the competition.
I guess the free listing is good for the folks who need to clean out their attics and don’t care if they get $3.00 for their free listing that started out at 99 cents if they have a lot of junk to clear out.
Speaking about how folks photograph their listings. One listing I saw, a person hung their listing on a hanger on their bathroom door, door was fully open and in the background was their toilet: with the lid up. Yuk. A real incentive for you to want to buy.
